Foça Military Café: Warm Café Atmosphere Design in an Institutional Environment

Foça Military Café (130 sqm, Alaybey, İzmir) is a project that solves the challenge of providing a relaxing, quality café experience in an institutional environment.

Dual Identity: Institutional and Warm

Café projects in institutional environments must balance a dual identity: the order required by institutional protocol and discipline, and the relaxation and socialising environment expected of a café space.

In this project, order was achieved through symmetrical placement and clean lines; warmth was created with terrazzo floor, light timber surfaces, and brass details.

Service Flow

The service counter was designed for both fast and hygienic flow. The order → payment → collection cycle was kept to a minimum to prevent queuing.

Seating Arrangement

Seating groups were mixed to suit both individual and group use. Adequate spacing was maintained out of respect for privacy.
