İ.E. House is a Bostanlı residential project completed in 2024. Befitting the client profile, the design adopted a masculine, contemporary aesthetic decisive in every detail. Matte black, oak parquet, and brass details supported this character with three different material languages.

Project Summary

Location: Bostanlı, İzmir Area: 200 sqm Material Palette: Matte black / Oak parquet / Brass Year: 2024

Black as a Tool: Power but Not Weight

Matte black cabinets and accent walls were used carefully so the home does not create an impression of a "black box." Black served only as a framing function: door frames, kitchen cabinet frames, niche edges. Open areas were allowed to breathe with oak parquet and cream plaster.

Oak Parquet: The Force of a Floor Decision

Floor finish choice is one of the most permanent decisions in residential projects. Oak parquet became this home's most fundamental material layer for both its durability and warmth. Herringbone pattern was chosen: both classic and contemporary, both simple and rhythmic.

Kitchen Island: Social Catalyst

Open plan was the most powerful decision of this home. The kitchen island, with its black cladding, brass accessories, and under-counter lighting, became the project's most attention-attracting surface. Bar stools placed around the island moved to the centre of the home's guest hosting ritual.
