Wolftrap Kemeraltı: Sophisticated Bar and Lounge Design in a Historic Fabric

Kemeraltı is İzmir's most deeply rooted historic commercial district. Designing a new nightlife venue in this area meant responding to both the weight of history and the dynamics of contemporary nightlife. Wolftrap solved this dual challenge with a combination of dark walnut, leather, and steel.

Dialogue with Historic Context

To avoid feeling alien to Kemeraltı's traditional han and bazaar fabric, heavy, deep, meaning-bearing materials were preferred at Wolftrap. Dark walnut established this dialogue both through visual richness and a patina identity that improves with time.

Leather Cladding: Silence and Luxury

Leather cladding applied to wall panels provided both acoustic benefit (sound absorption) and a premium sensation. The leather touch signalled a quietly luxurious ambition for the space.

Bar Counter Design

Wolftrap's bar counter is both the visual and social heart of the space. Dark walnut top surface was completed below with a matte black metal cabinet. The back-bar, with its bottle displays and custom lighting system, became a true "stage."
