F.Y. Stone Villa was realised in a narrow village-centre plot close to Foça's historic fabric. The narrow, elongated land geometry became the design's greatest constraint — but was also embraced as a creative datum requiring the space to flow, with each layer configured as a continuation of the previous.

Project Summary

Location: Foça, İzmir Area: 310 sqm Material Palette: Rustic stone / Ash timber / Glass panels Year: 2024

Narrow Plot, Deep Space

The narrowness of the plot necessitated front-to-back circulation on the ground floor and, on upper floors, light entry through large span windows. On bedroom floors, a glass-panel inner courtyard was configured: this courtyard brought natural light down to the lowest level and added spaciousness to the space.

Rustic Stone and Ash Balance

Rustic stone facade material was carried into the interior: the main wall running from the entrance to the kitchen was clad in rough-faced stone across its entire length. This "exhibition wall" divided the space into three while also strengthening the vertical axis. Ash timber staircase, wings, and shelving systems balanced this heavy stone, creating a warm and bright interior atmosphere.

The Role of Glass Panels

Glass panels assumed two functions: light transfer and a sense of volume. A floor-to-ceiling glass panel in the stair void brought upper floor light downward. The glass panel at the transition from living room to kitchen separated two spatial experiences while preserving visual continuity.
